I’ve been busy with bloco. Here are the key changes and additions made in this new version:
Recommender Engine Updates (recommender.py)
-
The
get_recommendationsfunction now accepts atop_kparameter, which defaults to 20.- There was a bug in recommender that hardcoded the number of recommendations to 12, regardless of what the main code asked.
Main Application & UI Enhancements (bora.pyw)
- A new
_copy_current_path_to_clipboardmethod was added, which triggers when the file path button is clicked and copies the full document path to the user’s clipboard. Previously this was done by right-clicking the document in the tree. Gotta free up some space in that right click menu. -
A dedicated “Mind Map” launch button was added directly to the header of the “Recommendations” panel.
-
The
_open_mindmap_for_selectedmethod was upgraded to check if a path exists rather than if it is just a file, adding support for opening folders in the mind map. -
If no item is actively selected in the directory tree, the mind map launcher now automatically falls back to using the currently opened document.
Mind Map Integration (mindmap.py)
-
The application now includes a dedicated
MindMapWindowclass to generate visual, organic network graphs of related documents. -
The mind map uses Obsidian-style fluid physics to simulate springs, repulsion, and damping for the nodes. I tried using Particle Swarm Optimization behavior, but that proved too inefficient and prone to unstability.
-
Users can explore outwards from a selected file, highlight paths back to the center node, and double-click nodes to open the files directly in the main application.
